Crazy Parade
So I guess here, where we are miles and miles and miles away from civilization as I once knew it, there are some crazy people. I wish I had a picture to display it because (and not to offend any of those people in any way) its the craziest thing I've seen in a very long time. The upcoming 4th of July holiday is an exciting thing in this area. Apparently the festivities are such a big deal that people from all over the Sunny State of Az come to the mountains to take part. So many people in fact, that it brings out the best of the Natives to this area, and although the parade is Saturday, people began to set up their chairs on Tuesday... including rope, caution tape, do not cross, private property, keep out, folding chairs, rocking chairs, school chairs, toddler chairs... It's a home town parade folks, not Disneyland. I am baffled by it, and assure you this that even when I have lived here 20 years I will not be taping off a family plot for the parade. It makes me want to go stand in one of their squares and dance around and say "it's mine, my square, and there's nothing you can do about it", just because it's so darn ridiculous. So After Saturday, I will fill you all in on how great this parade is, and how next year I will definitely mark off my spot, so that I can get a better view of the GLORIOUS WONDERFUL PARADE!

Weird. I'm proud of you for not caving to peer pressure and hauling your dining chairs out to the street! LOL!

lol, that's hilarious....you know what? you might not know what you've been missing. Maybe it IS like disneyland!!! have fun, can't wait to hear how it turns out. =)
They used to do that stuff up here for the Rose Festival Parade, tape and chalk and whatnot for over a week in advance. Then a fight started between the space savers and those who thought it was wrong, tape got ripped up every night, markings got erased. The whole thing was ugly.. Now it's against the law. If you want to save a spot, you are more than welcome to go sit your butt on your spot the day before, but you have to stay there all night. The sidewalk is public space, after all...
Not sure why you would be wanting to ridicule others traditions but guess we wouldn't expect anything better of you.

Not sure why you would ridicule someone for expressing their opinion, but I guess I shouldn't expect anything better from you. I have been to many parades and have never seen anything like this. It is not bad it is just a bit currious is all she was trying to state.
