Crazy night

I couldn't sleep at all last night. And when I finally did drift off to dream world a large grizzly bear walking upright was trying to attack me. What could of had me in such a toss and turn mood? I've narrowed it down to 4 things....

1. I have had a pleasant couple of days spending time with one of my nephews. Yesterday at 5:30pm we left to take him halfway home as my sister was going to meet us the other half. The sky was starting to turn fabulous shades of pink and purple. My heart started beating a little irregularly, not only was this my first big drive since we've lived here, but I hate driving at night, it strains my eyes and makes me feel kind of nauseous. So we headed off, 3 teenage boys and me. WE decided to go the wooded way there. Which sparked the lovely topic of Skin-walkers. I'm not usually a scaredy, but I'm a woman with 3 boys... and with eyes that don't work to well at night, the woods started to look pretty creepy.

2.The Skin-Walker talk only reminded me of the book I've been reading -Second Glance by Jodi Picoult. It's suppose to be about love... but you know it's a ghosty book therefore leaves you with that don't look in mirrors and run to bed before hands underneath it grab you and pull you under kind of feeling!

3. To top this trip off my sister and I decided that halfway point was the bottom of THE DREADED SALT RIVER CANYON. For those of you that aren't Arizonians... and have never had to travel the canyon, I will describe it to you.... it's a windy road with lots of switchbacks and rock slides and deep drop offs. There are the remains of car wrecks down the sides, and tales of deaths and hauntings. Now normally I'm just a passenger along for the ride through the canyon. Normally it's day, and at the bottom there is a lovely little rest area, with some fabulous Native American jewelry. But this wasn't normally. This time I was driving. This time there was a big burnt orange moon lighting the way. This time there was no jewelry for sale, because it was dark and the canyon walls cast crazy shadows. THIS TIME I COULDN'T WAIT TO GET THE HE** OUT OF THERE. It was down right creepy!

4. And last but not least the 4th reason I probably couldn't sleep last night. Because we left at dinner time, we stopped and grabbed dinner, I had a Carne Asada burro... yummy. And a 54 oz. Thirstbuster from Circle K. And my sister brought my Toms Hot Fries (oh, my favorite) So all these things combined... the Skin-Walkers, Ghost story, Scary Canyon, and Indigestion... led to a horrible nights sleep.

That does sound like a lot of things adding up to a horrible night's sleep (or a lack of sleep altogether!)

We drop off boys at the bottom of salt river canyon as our half way point to Papa's house. It was night time and I had to pee so bad and we had no flashlight. Why isn't there like one solar panel thing to provide some light? Any way huge animal knocked over a trashcan right when I had convinced myself that I could go into the dark restrooms. When the trashcan hit, I saw a huge black furry thing run away. Never stopping there for a bathroom break at night again.
